H1N1 Flu update (revised 11/16/09):  WATCH FOR UPDATES.  Currently have H1N1 nasal flumist available (see below for who is eligible) and H1N1 shots for children less than 36 months.  We expect the H1N1 shots to arrive in the next week or two.

Currently we have H1N1 nasal spray (flumist) available in our office.  Your child must be 2 years or older and have no history of asthma or wheezing in order to get this vaccine.  Also if your child is getting the seasonal flumist at school they are NOT able to get the H1N1 flumist until at least 4 weeks after the school vaccine has been given.  If they are getting the seasonal flu shot at school, thay can get the H1N1 flumist at anytime.

If your child is less than 2 years or has a history of asthma or wheezing, they are only eligible for the inactivated H1N1 vaccine (shot).  We have ordered preservative free shots for your children but have not yet received confirmation that we will be getting them.

The Department of Health Kaneohe should be receiving a supply for vaccines also. For more information please call them at 247-2191.  In addition many of the elementary and intermediate schools will be having H1N1 vaccine clinics for enrolled students starting in mid November.  A listing of these schools is available at this link. http://h1n1vax.doh.hawaii.gov/VaxProviderLogin.php.

We will continue to keep you updated.
